Industrial companies face the more challenging time than ever for competitiveness in the Global Economy. Digital Transformation is one part of the solution.

Firstly, is it necessary to understand one thing is implementing "Digitizing" solutions and another is to implement "Digitalisation" solutions and a third thing is Implementing a "Digital Transformation Roadmap". You need them all!


Digitizing is converting analogue data into digital form. For instance, if you measure pressure with an analogue gauge, sometimes referred to as dial gauges, you get a very sensible measurement system, widely used yet in industry. so, you will get accurate values. But.... if you want to record the values, you will need to note it on paper and then introduce in a computer by hand, or in an intermediate solution you can use a table in the measurement point to write it and get digitized. The proper concept of digitizing is doing it so much easy, so less prone to errors, by using a measurement device that measures, values and directly convert into "computer languages" those values, even more if the device is capable to transmit the value to a computer system. At this point you could say you have "digitized" your pressure measurement. This is DIGITIZATION.

In the day-by-day life en example can be using a digital camera, instead of a film camera, then you have digitized your pictures.

Once you have it digital you start the journey of using the "digits" to get electronic databases and enter the world of machine learning, automation, and data analytics. With Digitization your company can increase drastically the operational efficiency by using better technology, but your business model will not change. If you are composite part manufacturer and have defined selling framework and cost / benefit model it will not change, as a model.

Thanks to those technologies and wearable devices they were able to get, track and analyse customers parameters and with the use of Artificial Intelligence help to diagnose if there was a potential health issue.  These cases opened new business models, in the healthcare industry, and are a hint of what you could do with implementation of full power of DIGITALIZATION in your business.
